| Adriana Sanchez |

"My name is Adriana Sanchez. I have been a student at Robbins School for the past two years. Thanks to my teacher, Becky Davies, and with her patience, today I know a little English. I can write it and speak it. Now, I know how to fill out forms and most important of all is that I can continue to study English to have a better life and understand better. Learning English has helped me feel different and have more self confidence."

“One Stop has given me sooo…much courage. I was an out of work postal (injured) worker and I had just lost my job of 13 years due to reassessments. I was worried due to the fact I had no skills in the computer field and the world we live in there is No way you can be scared of a computer and survive. Not if you want to work. And yes, I do. So I would really like to thank Mr. David Moore for reassuring me and giving me the opportunity to learn and conquer!! Ta Da!”

If you still don’t have your diploma or GED, I advise you to sign up. It was probably my favorite schooling. I definitely need to thank the staff at the Sutter County One Stop.”

“Driving 45 minutes everyday to Yuba City is really paying off. I started a month ago, September 1, 2008. I live in Arbuckle and I am the oldest in my family. It is only me and a younger sister. I try to do my best in everything I do, so I can be an example for my sister, and so my family will be proud of me. My parents support me 100% even though I take the risk on driving everyday to Yuba City. I plan to be a Medical Assistant pretty soon. I appreciate Linda Scott for helping me and supporting me in what I need help on. She always wants the very best out of her students and because of that I learned a lot and am very happy of my success.”

“Hi! My name is Silvia Vargas. I have been attending a Sutter County Adult Education class since October 2007. I am here to get my high school diploma. Since I have been attending this school I have made huge progress. I took my CAHSEE test and I missed it by 1 point. I hope I will pass this next time. I owe all this progress to Kathy and Linda, they are absolutely wonderful teachers. I love their way of teaching by solving problems and being patient to all of us in class. I love this school so I really owe it to everybody.”

| Carolyn Schambach |
Carolyn Schambach is the most recent recipient of the “I’m the Boss Award”, given to students who have overcome the fear of technology. I remember reading her comments on the Background Knowledge Survey she filled out on her first day in the computer applications class: “I am afraid of messing up my family’s computer”.
Carolyn has progressed through keyboarding, Basic Windows, Basic Office, Intermediate Office, and is now on track for Microsoft Office Specialist certification.
Carolyn has an excellent attendance record and is very diligent in completing whatever level she is working on. She has the certificates to prove it!
It has been a real pleasure having a student like Carolyn in my class.

| Jesse Baxter |
Jesse Baxter, a recent High School graduate from Sutter County Adult Education, has overcome many obstacles to achieve his goal. Despite his adversities, Jesse maintains a cheerful, positive attitude. While his studies were not easy for him, he was patient with himself and those around him. He just kept plugging away at what he needed to do, asking questions when he needed help, and going over the material until he was clear about what he was required to do.
Jesse’s confidence has now helped him to seek new challenges. He continues to take classes to further his knowledge and to give him more marketable skills. His positive attitude will no doubt provide many opportunities in his future. |
| Josh Aust |
Josh Aust was a student at Sutter County Adult Education for some time. Having personal problems, he stopped out on several occasions. We didn’t see him for several months. Then he would appear and say he was ready to tackle school again. Each time he would apply himself with renewed vigor. Each time he would work diligently on each subject until it was done. Josh has finally received his High School Diploma. He now intends to look at his options and decide on a course of action. Whether it be the service, college, or a training program, his high school diploma gives him the opportunity to make those choices. |
| Rachel Navar |
Rachel has started her CNA classes and has switched over to Vicky’s afternoon GED class. Rachel has worked hard and achieved much in a short amount of time. I know she will receive her GED in a timely manner, as she is dedicated to her success. Keep up the good work Rachel! |
| Jashanpreet Singh Sandhu |
Jashanpreet Singh Sandhu, a recent immigrant from India, came to improve his basic skills and pass the GED. In talking with him, I found he really wanted his High School Diploma. An evaluation of his transcript showed that was a feasible goal, so Jashanpreet switched to the High School Diploma program.
In record speed (less than two months), he has completed two subjects with above average scores and is well into his third. With three courses left, to complete; Jashanpreet is well on his way to obtaining his High School Diploma.
