"I’m a dislocated employee of 18 years with Medicare. I was a firm believer that this economy could not affect me, yet it has. I found myself wondering “what now”. My mentality at that time was “Medicare is all I know”, until February ’09, when I came upon Sutter County One Stop.
One Stop has helped me excel, effectively, in skills I was unaware I had. The best part, I’ve learned at my own pace! We each have different learning abilities and skills, with the help of One Stop – they blossom. Sure I was familiar with Microsoft Software due to the job, but never did I imagine being CERTIFIED in this field, which I’m strongly approaching. I’ve received certificates in Microsoft Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and currently working on Access. My goal is to become “certified” with Microsoft, by the end of 2009.
Thank you One Stop, Linda Bozza, Araceli Gonzalez and the WIA program for ensuring the hope of a better future!"

“Sutter County One Stop is a great school. The teachers and staff are helpful and friendly. When I first came to the ROP classes, I was going to brush up on my skills to get a job. Upon taking the entrance exam my English language skills came up with a 9.1 grade level. Four months into school I started the Business English course. After three chapters, I had to retake the exam to get into some other classes. I was greatly surprised that my English language score had came up to an 11.1. I owe this to the Business English and teachers who want to see you excel.”

"I thought spending two hours a day for a whole month on a subject I already had plenty of experience in would be monotonous and boring. Now, I am thankful that the Telephone Etiquette was a required class for me because not only was it beneficial, it was fun! The class was not one I would have normally signed up for, but I recommend it to everyone. Telecommunications is an important part of our world today, and the skills needed to communicate effectively are ones we should strive for daily."

“I was laid off my job, January 2008, after 28 years in the lending/real estate industry. I immediately applied for unemployment and learned about Sutter County One Stop retraining program. I enrolled in an accounting class and obtained my certifications in accounting, Quick Books, Excel, Ten Key and Word. I worked all my life without ever being in this position but the opportunities that One Stop provided me was so valuable. I regained my confidence, learned things I wish I had known all my working years and found new friends that are/were in the same situation I was in. What One Stop offers the community is so needed, I hope legislation can also see the great benefit to our community. Thank you for this opportunity.”
